On Wednesday, April 2, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. will host a graduation ceremony for the Student Ambassador Program at Central Islip High School. More than thirty students participated in the program, discussing public safety-related topics directly with law enforcement. This is the fourth year Central Islip High School has hosted the program. Additionally, during the event, two students will receive $500 scholarships from Suffolk Credit Union.
The Sheriff’s Student Ambassador program is held bi-weekly, and the Sheriff and officers meet with a small group of students to facilitate an open dialogue with law enforcement and get a candid understanding on issues affecting young people. In the past fourteen weeks, the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office staff presented on topics relevant to youth in Suffolk County, including cyber bullying, social media safety, vaping and drugs.
