SCPD Seeking Man Who Scammed Four $500 Gift Cards from Middle Island Walmart

SCPD are seeking the man who stole gift cards at a Middle Island store.

Middle Island, NY - March 13, 2018 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole gift cards using a diversion scheme at a Middle Island store. 
 
A man stole four $500 gift cards from Walmart, located at 750 Middle Country Road, January 21 at approximately 2:40 p.m. The man approached a cashier, asked for four $500 gift cards and then indicated he had another item in the bottom of his cart that needed to be scanned. As the cashier walked around the counter to scan the item, the man reached over the counter and pressed the cash tender button, while pretending to use the key pad to pay via credit card, and the register now indicated the purchase had been completed.
