Mother & Father Arrested for Assault & Endangering the Welfare of Their 8-Year-Old Son in Roosevelt

First Squad detectives report the details of two arrests for assault and endangering the welfare of a child that occurred in Roosevelt on Monday, 02/06/17 at 4:00 P.M.

Roosevelt, NY - February 11, 2017 - First Squad detectives report the details of two arrests for assault and endangering the welfare of a child that occurred in Roosevelt on Monday, 02/06/17 at 4:00 P.M.

According to detectives, Oluwafeyi Faniyi, 30, and Olufemi Faniyi, 32, both of Roosevelt, while at their residence, disciplined their son, 8, for misbehaving by whipping him with an extension cord of some kind.  The injury to the child’s back and arms, open lacerations both old and new, were noticed at the child’s school (undisclosed) by a teacher.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released to a family member.

Both defendants are each being charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Endangering Welfare of a Child and will be arraigned on Saturday, 02/11/17 in First District Court, Hempstead.
