Two Men Pull Gun on Taxi Driver, One Man Arrested

New Cassel, NY - February 6, 2017 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Westbury man for a robbery that occurred in New Cassel on Sunday, 02/05/17 at 4:05 A.M.

According to detectives, Wilfredo Torres-Ramos, 31, of Westbury and another (not yet apprehended) while in a taxi on Broadway/Malaney Ave., pulled a gun on the taxi driver and demanded money.  The victim complied and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.  The subjects fled the scene on foot down Malaney Ave. towards Union Ave.

No injuries were reported.

Subsequent investigation by detectives led to the arrest of Torres-Ramos on Sunday, 02/05/17 at 7:30 P.M. at his residence.  He is being charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Possession Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree and will be arraigned on Monday, 02/ 06/17 in First District Court, Hempstead.
