Suffolk County, NY - January 27, 2016 - The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for pushing a dog out of a car and abandoning it.
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that on January 18, 2016 at approximately 4:00 pm a witness observed an individual open the passenger side door and a dog jumped out. The dog then ran to the driver's side and the driver pushed the dog away.
The vehicle, an older model green Jeep Grand Cherokee, drove away with the dog chasing the car. The witness then observed the dog get struck by another car traveling in the opposite direction. This incident occurred on Jerusalem Hollow Road heading in the vicinity of Crystal Pond Apartments in Moriches.
The dog received veterinary care after sustaining some bruising.
