Central Islip, NY - January 21, 2019 - Suffolk County Police Major Case detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash in Central Islip that killed a pedestrian on Sunday, January 20.
Mahendra Punai fell in the roadway and was struck by a 1999 Lexus that was traveling southbound on Wheeler Road near Janice Lane at approximately 2:05 a.m.
Punai, 28, of Richmond Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The driver of the Lexus, Amanda Ibarra, 19, of Central Islip, was not injured.
