West Islip, NY - January 14th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime Unit detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Bank of America in West Islip today.

A man entered the bank, located at 540 Montauk Highway, approached a teller, stated he had a gun and demanded cash. As the teller was preparing to give him the money, the man also demanded cash from a second teller, who also complied.  The suspect fled to a waiting cab and told the driver he had a gun and to take him to the Babylon train station.  The cab driver dropped off the suspect in the area of the train station.

The robber is described as white, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, between 50 and 60 years old, with a heavy build and was wearing a dark jacket and a dark-colored knit hat.
