Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Sayville Crash

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Sayville last evening.

Sayville, NY - January 7th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Sayville last evening.
 
James Dower, of Sayville, was walking northbound on Lincoln Avenue when he was struck by a 2013 Ford van that was traveling southbound on Lincoln Avenue and attempting to turn east onto Hiddink Avenue at 7:41 p.m. The driver of the van, James Gross, 47, of Sayville, remained at the scene.
 
Dower, 58, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for a serious head injury.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
