Dr. Mark Fleckner, a Garden City ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases, has been recognized as a "Patients' Choice" physician based on patient reviews.
"Patients' Choice recognition reflects the difference a particular physician has made in the lives of their patients. The honor is bestowed to physicians who have received near perfect scores as voted by patients," according to the web site PatientsChoice.org.
The site provides information on doctors who have been recognized and awarded for outstanding patient care and expertise. Patients rate doctors in six areas: accurate diagnosis; bedside manner; follow up; ease of appointment; promptness; and courteous staff.
Of the nation's 720,000 active physicians, only five percent received this honor by their patients in 2011, according to the organization.
