Undercover Sting Nabs Culprits: Police Bust Vape and Pot Sales to Minors, Alcoholic Beverage Offenses

Police operation targets illegal sales of nicotine, marijuana, and alcohol to minors, resulting in multiple arrests and seized contraband.

Third Precinct Problem Oriented Police Officers conducted a Project 21 investigation and report multiple Arrests within the confines of the Third Precinct starting at 5:42pm on Monday, September 18, 2023.
 
The Project 21 investigation targets the sale of nicotine and alcohol products sold to underage agents.  The agents entered the following establishments where the store employees did not ask for the proper identification and sold nicotine/alcohol products to the Police agents.
 
W.P. Smoke Shop and Candy Store located at 579 Willis Avenue Williston Park.  Defendant Waleed S. Ozair, 31, 1615 Madison Street Elmont did sell one flavored nicotine vape product.  Subsequent to the investigation, it was discovered that multiple sales of products containing Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and marijuana were conducted and one hundred eighty-four products containing THC and marijuana were seized.
 
It's Lit Convenience Shop located at 22506 Jamaica Avenue Bellerose Terrace.  Defendant Noah G. Lakburlawal, 25, of 4506 80th Street Apt. 3e Elmhurst did sell one flavored nicotine product. Subsequent to the investigation, Officers observed items containing Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and marijuana; one thousand thirty-seven items were seized.   
Defendants Ozair and Lakburlawal are each charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and Age Restricted Products.  They will be arraigned on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
 
Aces Up Vapor and Smoke Shop located at 235 Hillside Avenue Williston Park.  Defendant Vipin B. Shah, 70, of 35 Smith Place Williston Park did sell one alcoholic beverage. 
 
Latino Café and Bar located at 2224 Jericho Turnpike Garden City Park.  Defendant Medina Cabrera Rosibel Del Carmen, 29, did sell two alcoholic beverages. 
 
Defendants Shah and Carmen are each charged with Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child; both were issued Appearance Tickets returnable on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 to First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
