Local Man Nabbed by Cops After Attempted Break-In of Uniondale Residence

Uniondale, NY - September 13, 2017 - First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Uniondale man for Attempted Burglary that occurred on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 pm in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, patrol officers responded for a 911 call for a burglary in progress at a residence on Cornwell Avenue. The female victim, 45, was asleep when she heard a noise and awoke to find two (2) hands coming through an open window.  
 
The victim went to the window, opened the shades and noticed the window’s screen had been damaged. An unknown male was standing below the window. 
 
The subject fled the scene on foot. The victim provided police with a description of the subject.
 
A short time later, a male fitting the description was stopped by police in the vicinity of Avenue B and Nassau Road. An investigation was conducted and Jamali Johnson, 30, was placed under arrest.
 
Defendant Johnson is being charged with Burglary 2nd degree (Attempt), two (2) counts of Criminal Mischief 4th degree and has an unrelated warrant for False Personation. He was arraigned on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
