The Samurai are legendary for many historic deeds. The movie The Last Samurai and The Book Shogun speak volumes and depict a fierce and talented warrior society.The samurai or (bushi)were members of a military class of Japanese warriors. Loosely translated Samurai means "to serve".The Samurai warrior was under the command of a warlord or Shogun. Samurai were to lead their lives under the "bushido code" . This way was strong ethic values and honor and loyalty to their shogun.
Samurai were expert in a wide range of weaponry. Archery, Spears Martial Arts and Guns were all practiced and mastered. The Legacy of The Samurai will always be in The Samurai Sword or Katana.The Samurai always carried 3 edged weapons (Daito Set) a Katana, Wakasashi and Tanto.
The Samurai were a great force in Feudal Japan and have shaped it's history. From 794 AD thru 1868 the samurai were Japans and it's Emporers most influential military force.As the end of the great samurai era came upon Japan, and Japan embraced the Industrial Revolution . The Samurai have gone the way of Legend. I can say with pride that many modern martial artists still embrace the code of the bushido and train in many samurai arts.
