Violent Outburst at Brazilian Steakhouse Leads to Uniondale Man's Arrest, Leaving Officer Injured

Uniondale man arrested after violent outburst at Brazilian steakhouse, injuring officer and violating order of protection.

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 4:25pm in Carle Place.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded to Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse located at 235 Old Country Road for a disturbance between a female and a male subject, that included the male taking a martini glass and then destroying it.
Present throughout the disturbance was their one-year-old female child.
 
Upon arrival, Officers observed the male subject as he attempted to flee the scene on foot, however, Officers located the subject on the Meadowbrook State Parkway. As the Officers attempted to place him into custody, the subject attempted to remove an Officer’s gun. One Officer sustained an injury during the course of the arrest as the Defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest.
 
The Officer was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his injury. Subsequent to the investigation, it was  determined that the male subject violated an order of protection which the female and the child have against him. He also attempted to forcefully remove car keys from the female and slapped a restaurant employee prior to Police arrival.
 
Defendant David A. Meikle, 30, of 200 Uniondale Avenue Apt. 3 of Uniondale is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 3 3rd Degree, two counts of Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest,
Obstructing Governmental Administration, Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Harassment 2nd Degree and  Criminal Contempt 1st Degree.
 
He will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
