There really is something about Mary – Mary the dog, that is – this week’s adorable adoptable pet from Last Chance Animal Rescue who has already stolen the hearts of volunteers and her foster family alike.

Mary is a one or two year old Bluetick Coonhound/Hound mix, and weighs about 45 pounds.  She has a wonderful demeanor, and she is described by LCAR volunteers as a happy dog who loves to play. The ideal owner for Mary would have a backyard where she can romp around, or at least be able to take her out for a few walks a day.  She is working on her leash skills, and gets better with them each day.

Mary is a great companion who gets along well with other dogs, as well as children of all ages.  In the photo below, she can be seen snuggling with a little member of her foster family.  She cannot wait to have a family that might have kids who she can grow old with.

Mary is housebroken, up-to-date on all of her routine vaccinations, and ready to go to her forever home.

Come meet Mary at the PetSmart in Port Jefferson this Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, April 13, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Last Chance Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization located out of Southampton which rescues animals from “kill” facilities – many of which are rural shelters in southern states – and underwrites the costs of relocating them to “no-kill” facilities and foster homes with the goal of adopting them into a forever family.  For information about adoption, fostering animals, or volunteering with LCAR, click here.
