Outside of the Wedding Reception, one of the largest single expenses that a bride-to-be has to budget for is her wedding dress – something that will surely be the most memorable piece of attire for the bride’s lifetime. No matter what you're looking to spend, there are options that allow every bride to look her best – even on a budget! This week, we’ll bring you some tried and true tips for saving on your wedding gown, as well as the scoop on local bridal shops that can help you plan the perfect look.

Have a question about wedding planning? Email Jeanne, and your question may be chosen as next week's theme!

  • Shop sales. Once you know your Wedding Date, you’ll be able to plan the timeframe for finding the perfect dress. If your Wedding date isn’t set for the next 6 months, you’ll have a good window of time to wait for a great sale at a local boutique.
  • Shop samples. Many shops and designers offer sample sales – dresses that were used for display or sample purposes that have been significantly discounted – but still simply gorgeous!
  • Pick out a few different options. Even if you think you’ve found “the dress”, make sure to check the price tag, and see if it is realistically in your budget. Even if it is, make sure to see what other shops have to offer – you never know what you’ll find!
  • Attend a Bridal Expo - many vendors at Expos offer discounts, and even do raffles & giveaways with Wedding Gowns! These events are often low cost or free, so make sure to attend some before tying the knot.
