Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Mount Sinai early this morning.

Daniel Colasanto, 18, of Port Jefferson Station suffered serious injuries after a vehicle struck him in Mount Sinai.

Mount Sinai, NY - June 16, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Mount Sinai early this morning.

Wendy Elsen was driving a 2010 Honda eastbound on Route 25A, west of Westgate Drive, when her vehicle struck a pedestrian, Daniel Colasanto, who was in the roadway at approximately 1 a.m.

Colasanto, 18, of Port Jefferson Station, was transported via Port Jefferson Ambulance to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson for serious injuries. Elsen, 48, of Miller Place, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Sixth Squad detectives as 631-854-8652.
