Freeport Man Arrested for Stolen Vehicle Linked to a Homicide Investigation and Criminal Possession of a Weapon

Tremain Williams, 36, of Freeport, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Stolen Property, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle and Fugitive from Justice.

Freeport, NY - January 3, 2016 - The Homicide Squad reports an arrest for Criminal Possession of a Weapon on Friday, January 1, 2016 at 4:16 P.M. in Freeport.

According to detectives, Freeport Police Officers reviewing the results of a stationary plate reader discovered a stolen 2001 Tahoe had been in the area.  They were able to locate the vehicle at Pennsylvania Avenue and Wilson Place being operated by Tremain Williams, 36, of Freeport.  He was placed under arrest and transported to Nassau County Police First Squad for processing.  During the investigation a loaded M4 assault rifle was found in the   vehicle.  It was also discovered the vehicle was proceeds in a homicide investigation being conducted by the Norfolk Virginia Police Department. 

Williams is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle and Fugitive from Justice.  He will be arraigned on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
