Two Uniondale Men Arrested for Involvement in a Shooting

Baldwin, NY - March 28, 2015 - First Squad detectives report the arrests of two Uniondale men for an incident that occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 3:10 am in Baldwin.
 
According to detectives, First Precinct officers responded to a 911 call in front of 1961 Grand Avenue for a disturbance involving 10-15 people where shots were heard to be fired. Upon arrival at the scene, two gunshot victims were located and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The first victim, a 21-year-old male suffered three non-life threatening gunshot wounds involving his shoulder, thigh and ankle. The other victim, a 28-year-old female, suffered a single gunshot wound to her ear, also non-life threatening.
 
A subsequent investigation led detectives to the arrest of Iquan Drew, 27, of Harrison Avenue, who was the shooter and Steven Smith, 30, of Harrison Avenue, who drove Drew away from the scene of the incident.
 
Drew is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree.
 
Smith is charged with Criminal Facilitation 4th Degree.
 
Both will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 03/29/2015.
