The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect until 7 PM EST this evening. The Blizzard Warning has been cancelled. * Locations...Suffolk County in southeast New York...and New Haven...Middlesex and New London counties in southeast Connecticut. * Hazard types...periods of snow and blowing snow. * Accumulations...additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with total accumulations of 20 to 30 inches...with locally higher amounts. * Winds...north 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * Visibilities...one mile or less at times. * Temperatures...in the lower 20s. * Timing...this afternoon into this evening. * Impacts...dangerous travel conditions continue due to snow... blowing snow and gusty winds. Some roads may be impassable. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities will lead to whiteout conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded...stay with your vehicle. A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. NCPD Looking for East Meadow Robber

An unidentified woman robbed a TD Bank early Sunday afternoon.

East Meadow, NY - March 23, 2014 - The Robbery Squad is investigating a bank Robbery that occurred on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 12:10 PM in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, an unknown female subject entered the TD Bank located at 2549 Hempstead Turnpike and showed a demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undetermined amount of US currency, the subject fled the scene in an unknown direction possibly in a dark colored auto. The subject is described as a female black, medium to dark complexion, 5’4” – 5’6” tall, in her 40’s, slim build, wearing a gray scarf, dark colored sweater and dark colored jeans. There were 6 employees and 2 customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery.  There were no reported injuries. 
 
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
