Smithtown, NY - January 7, 2016 - The VA Hospital in Northport is located within Legislator Rob Trotta's legislative district so he has partnered with Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank to provide dinner for the veterans who are homeless and staying at the shelter. Legislator Robert Trotta and Laura Lynn Iacono, a nutritionist from Long Island Cares, served a group of veterans venison Shepherd's Pie topped with fresh mashed red new potatoes and vegetables.Ms. Iacono also discussed the services that LI Cares provides for the community and its outreach programs for veterans. Those attending gave the dinner a rave review and were most appreciative. “It is an honor and privilege for me to be here tonight to serve our veterans in their time of need especially when they have given so much for our country and us,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
