In order to prevent a historic site becoming a supermaker and parking lot, The Amagansett Historical Association was born in 1964. Through the preservation of the Miss Amelia Cottage, now in operation as a museum, the Historical Association has been able to educate the public at large on how Amagansett people lived from early Colonial times through the early 1900s.
