Is it your dream to ride a horse through beautiful fields, forests, and meadows?
 
Ours too.
 
Big River Barn takes riders of any skill level, including first time riders, out on trail. Instead of going around and around in circles in an enclosed ring, you’ll learn about how horses behave in the wide world; you’ll learn how to communicate with them; and we’ll show you how to balance and move with them. All that, with spectacular scenery.
 
We ride in the incredibly beautiful Muttontown Preserve, over 500 acres of preserved open space, located in the middle of Nassau County, a mere 1/2 hour from NYC (well, with no traffic…).
 
Our horses are superbly trained rescues who are good at making friends with new people. They’re patient with beginners, and eager for fun with experienced riders.
 
Families with small children too young to ride on trail? Come visit (by appointment, please). We’re on a lovely former Gold Coast estate, now owned by the County, and part of the preserve.
 
Open every day, every season, all year ‘round, weather permitting.
