The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was passed in 1908 to help protect railroad workers. FELA allows railroad employees to sue their employers for damages, which includes those not covered by standard workmen's compensation laws. This includes negligence claims and damages that aren't reduced due to the worker's assumption of risk.
