Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)

Rail workers are exposed to a variety of dangers while working. The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was enacted by Congress to address this issue. The law shields employers from state workers compensation laws. The law also allows for monetary payouts to be decided by juries on the basis of the concept of comparative negligence.
