A psychiatrist will prescribe ADHD medication for adults who have been diagnosed. However, the NHS is experiencing a shortage of a variety of central nervous system stimulants as well as ADHD medicines.

The shortage is due to manufacturing issues and a rise in global demand. It is expected to be resolved between October and December 2023.
