Defra Wood Burning Stoves

Stoves are more environmentally friendly than open fires and they heat rooms more efficiently. They also emit less pollution because the majority of smoke is emitted up the chimney instead of into the room.

You might not be permitted to use a wood-burning stove when you live in a smoke-control area. To avoid this, search for a DEFRA approved stove.
