The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was passed in 1908, was designed to protect railroad employees. FELA allows railroad employees to sue their employers for damages, including those that are not covered by workmen's comp laws. This includes claims for negligence as well as damages that are not reduced by the employee's assumption of risk.
