The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was passed in 1908 to help protect railroad workers. FELA allows railroad employees to sue their employers for damages, which includes ones that aren't covered by standard workmen's compensation laws. This includes claims for negligence and damages that are not reduced by the employee's assumption of risk.
