Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability (FELA) provides a special legal entitlement to compensation for railroad employees who have been injured. Contrary to the state laws on workers' compensation that are federally enforceable, this law requires railroad workers injured to prove that their employers were negligent.

Congress adopted the FELA in 1908
