Mastic Beach, NY - November 20, 2013 - The William Floyd High School Counseling Center recently welcomed Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) for their annual on-site admissions day, where recruiters had the opportunity to meet with interested seniors to evaluate their transcripts and applications and speak with them about the majors and courses of study available. At the event, 70 seniors received on-the-spot acceptance letters.

“The number of students who take advantage of this opportunity increases year after year,” said Dana Garner, Counselor, William Floyd High School. “We are delighted that Suffolk has been so accommodating to our students.” To meet the demand, SCCC has scheduled a second on-site admissions day.

Each February, the William Floyd Counseling Center coordinates and hosts a much larger on-site admissions event with representatives from eight to 10 colleges and universities in attendance from St. Joseph’s College, Dowling College, Long Island University, Mercy College, SCCC and more. The next event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2014.

“We are proud to bring these opportunities to our students and support the William Floyd School District’s College and Career Readiness initiative,” said Gerilyn Wright, Director of Student Services, William Floyd School District.
