For nine years, Canstruction® LI’s annual design competition has raised over $425,000 to purchase and collectively donate over 330,000 cans of food representing more than 131,000 tons of food providing 213,000 meals for hungry Long Islanders. Of particular note, Jan Murray, who has designed all of the structures for Greenman-Pederson, Inc. and all of the Lines & Designs Teams has actually won in all of the awards categories for her designs over the years.

“We are overwhelmed by the creativity and sheer volume of cans collected to create these spectacular structures,” said Tracy Lobdell, Executive Director, Canstruction® Long Island. “The ingenuity displayed by the professional and student teams alike is a testament to their dedication to help fight hunger here on Long Island.”

The sculptures are on display to the public from October 30 through November 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is a canned food donation(s), which will also serve as a vote for the “People’s Choice” award. For the duration of the exhibit, collection bins will be located next to each structure and visitors vote for the “People’s Choice” award winner by placing their food donation in the bin next to their favorite structure.
