Legislator Anker Joins Ride For Life “Ice ALS Challenge”

Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the local community at Mount Sinai Heritage Park on Wednesday, August 26th, for the Ice ALS Challenge.

Mount Sinai, NY - September 4, 2015 - Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the local community at Mount Sinai Heritage Park on Wednesday, August 26th, for the Ice ALS Challenge. The event was organized by the nonprofit organizations Ride for Life and the Mount Sinai Heritage Trust. Donations and pledges to fund ALS research were encouraged during the event, which also features a dunk tank, pie toss, and a community ice bucket fundraiser.

“I commend the local community on a great turnout for this important cause,” said Legislator Anker. “I am proud to support Ride for Life and all of the wonderful work they do to raise awareness of ALS.”

Legislator Anker participated, along with hundreds of residents from the community, in the ice bucket challenge, which raise awareness and facilitate donations to ALS research. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that gradually weakens muscles and impacts physical functions.
