Central Islip, NY - August 27, 2013 - Participation in the Backpack Pirates School Supplies Drive by the 9th Legislative District office has become a tradition. The Brentwood and Central Islip communities as well as area businesses and organizations continue to support the initiative by donating school supplies in preparation for the up-coming 2013-2014 school year.

A box provided by the sponsors of the 7th Annual Back Pack Pirates Summer Fest collected school supplies as well as new clothing items for needy children 5-18 years old at homeless and domestic violence shelters, local parish outreaches, and families at the Department of Labor sites across Suffolk County.

“The residents, businesses, and different community organizations of the 9th Legislative District are always very noble when it comes to contributing to a good cause,” Montano said. “I am extremely impressed every year with the positive and overwhelming support that our office receives for this school supplies drive. It is important to recognize the significant difference that each and every donor will make in the lives of those children receiving the backpacks filled with all the supplies they will need to excel during the school year.”
