For the Coastal Flood Statement, late tonight. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding.

August 26, 2013 - West Islip, NY - Suffolk County Legislator Tom Barraga (R‐West Islip)recently met with the Director of West Islip’s Library Andrew Hammto thank the library and the community fortheir continued supportinmaking the Back Pack for Piratessuch a huge success. The box forthe Back Pack for Pirates, which is a partnership with Presiding Officer William Lindsay ofthe Suffolk County Legislature and the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless to collect items including writing instruments, crayons, glue,markers, backpacks, and many other needed school supplies, was placed atthe West Islip Library from the end of July through August.
