Nassau Cops Bust Multiple Businesses Operating Illegal Gambling Machines on Premises

Third Precinct Problem Oriented Police Officers (POP) report multiple arrests within the confines of Nassau County on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Officers assigned to the POP unit conducted “Operation Pop and Stop Quality of Life Enforcement” targeting various locations conducting illegal business. The following establishments were in possession of illegal gambling devices:

  • Mineola Deli Comida Hispana – 90-07 W. Jericho Turnpike, Mineola. A total of three (3) gambling machines were seized along with US Currency. Defendant Jose Molina, 40, of 20 Reed Lane, Westbury was arrested without incident.
  • Latino Café and Bar – 2224 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park. A total of one (1) gambling machine was seized. Defendant Iris M. Gonzalez Juarez, 50, of 238 Albertson Place, Mineola was arrested without incident.

The following individuals were cited for unlawfully Panhandling/Peddling goods:

  • Hempstead Turnpike / Earle Ovington Boulevard, Uniondale. Defendant Rosa Fabiola Cando Pomboza, 27, of Brooklyn was unlawfully soliciting fruit in the middle lane of traffic.
  • Union Avenue / Grand Boulevard, New Cassel. Defendant Rudany Antonio Valerio Jimenez, 39, of Richmond Hill was unlawfully selling fruit out of his vehicle.

Defendant Molina is charged with three (3) counts of Possession of Gambling Devices. Defendant Gonzalez Juarez is charged with Possession of a Gambling Device and Govern Licensee: On Premise Disorderly/Gambling. They were both issued appearance tickets returnable on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 to First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.

Defendant Cando Pomboza is charged with Peddling and Soliciting without a License. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 to Second District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.

Defendant Valerio Jimenez is charged with Peddling and Soliciting without a License. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable on Friday, August 25, 2023 to Third District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
