Coram Man Arrested for DWI Following Fatal Pedestrian Crash, Cops Say

Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for DWI following a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Melville.
 
Shane Decamp was operating a southbound 2016 Mazda CX-5 in front of 400 Broadhollow Road last night at approximately 9:35 p.m., when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway from east to west.
 
The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
Decamp, 48, of Coram, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was held at the Second Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.
