A popular cafe on Main Street in Port Jefferson village is closing its doors. C’est Cheese, which specializes in artisanal cheese, craft beers and boutique wines, has been a staple of the foodie and social scene in the village for nine years.

The cafe announced the closing on Facebook on Wednesday morning with a post.

“To our loyal customer, it is with a heavy heart to announce that we will be closing our doors permanently on Sunday, July 12 at 6pm,” the post read.

The restaurant said in the post that they were thankful for “all the stories written between these walls and the lives connected. “The memories created will never be forgotten,” they wrote.

Fans of C’est Cheese began posting an outpouring of support and condolences for the closure immediately.

“Joe I can see from all the comments that your closing breaks the hearts of your community and leaves a huge void,” one poster wrote. “I know you must be incredibly saddened as well. Hoping that your life’s next path will bring you as much happiness as C’est Cheese did.”
