The Suffolk County Police Department have identified a dead body that an East Shoreham homeowner discovered in late May when uncovering their pool for the summer.
The man found deceased in an East Shoreham pool on May 25 has been positively identified as Matthew Zoll.
The resident discovered Zoll floating in the middle of their pool after stripping off the cover. According to Suffolk County Police Department Commissioner Kevin Catalina, Zoll, 23, was a fugitive wanted for allegedly stabbing his 61-year-old father to death in their nearby Rocky Point home back in November 2024.
Zoll had been on the run ever since the incident.
While the exact amount of time the body was floating in the backyard pool is currently unknown, police believe it had been their for "a long time."
Zoll’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
