Police Officer Joshua Parsons awarded the Second Precinct STOP-DWI Top Cop Award.

Suffolk County, NY - May 3, 2016 - On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, County Executive Steve Bellone, Police Commissioner Timothy Sini, and representatives of Mothers Against Drunk Driving presided over the STOP-DWI TOP COP AWARD ceremony at the Suffolk County Police Academy.  This ceremony honors those police officers from various police agencies throughout Suffolk County who have distinguished themselves in their commitment to traffic safety through the enforcement of driving while intoxicated laws.

Police Officer Joshua Parsons, who arrested 26 DWI offenders in 2015, was recognized by County Executive Bellone and Commissioner Sini as the Second Precinct STOP-DWI TOP COP.

Officer Parsons has been a member of the Suffolk County Police Department since June 28, 2010 and assigned to the Second Precinct following his training at the Police Academy.  He regularly patrols the Huntington Station community; and his commitment to public safety and public service is no less than outstanding.  In addition to outstanding DWI enforcement, Officer Parsons affected a total of 99 arrests and issued 387 traffic summonses in 2015, while diligently serving the public in the many aspects of policing.

Officer Parsons is also a certified paramedic and a member of the Department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MEDCAT).  His paramedic training was instrumental in the life-saving care administered to Second Precinct Police Officer Nickolas Guerrero in October 2014 when he was grievously injured as a result of being struck by the car of a fleeing felon.  Officer Parsons, along with fellow MEDCAT officers James Garside and Dennis Hendrickson, decisively administered life-saving medical care and rapidly prepared Officer Guerrero for helicopter transport to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Inspector Hatton stated, “I greatly appreciate Officer Parson’s enthusiasm and commitment in serving the Huntington Station area as a member of the Second Precinct.  He has certainly made a difference in promoting public safety as he regularly patrols his area of responsibility.”
