Gretchen Carlson, the author of ‘Fierce,’ and Alison Chernick, the director of ‘Itzhak’ will be Tom Needham’s guests this Thursday on WUSB’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’

Stony Brook, NY - April 10, 2018 - Gretchen Carlson and director Alison Chernick will be Tom Needham’s exclusive guests this Thursday at 6 P.M. on WUSB’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’
 
Former Fox News Host, Gretchen Carlson, will speaking to Tom about her book, ‘Be Fierce: Stop Harassment and Take Back Your Power.’ In the book, Gretchen shares her own brave story of fighting back against sexual harassment, and her very public battle for justice. Since then, Gretchen has had a new calling: to empower other women in their struggle against injustice. After Gretchen stood up and spoke out about her situation, women all over the world have joined the movement and began to take back their lives and dignity.  
 
Gretchen Carlson is recognized all over the globe as a celebrity news anchor and former Miss America winner. In 2017, she was named one of ‘TIME’ magazine’s most influential people in the world. Her 2015 book,’Getting Real,’ was a national best-seller.  In addition, she is the current chairwoman of Miss America’s board of directors.
 
Also on the program is director Alison Chernick, the director of ‘Itzhak.’ The film shines a spotlight on the remarkable life of celebrated violinist, Itzhak Perlman. Chernick does a remarkable job of telling the story of a young polio survivor who came from Poland and Israel to America in order to be taken seriously as a music student when schools only saw his disability.  The film also shares personal glimpses into the life of Itzhak and his devoted wife, Toby Perlman, as well as candid moments with Alan Alda and Billy Joel. ‘Itzhak’ will be screening at the Port Jefferson Documentary Festival on Monday, April 16th at 7:00 at Theater Three. Allison Chernick is the scheduled guest speaker. ‘Itzhak’ will have its exclusive U.S. broadcast premiere as part of the ‘American Masters’ series on PBS.
