Northwell Health and Nuvance Health are teaming up to create a new health system covering areas in New York and Connecticut. The plan, pending regulatory approval, aims to improve patient care and services by merging their strengths.

The leaders of both organizations are excited about the partnership, seeing it as a way to enhance healthcare quality and accessibility in their communities. Northwell Health's CEO, Michael Dowling, and Nuvance Health's CEO, John M. Murphy MD, believe that by joining forces, they can elevate healthcare standards and make positive changes in the industry.

“This partnership opens a new and exciting chapter for Northwell and Nuvance Health and provides an incredible opportunity to enhance both health systems and take patient care and services to an even higher level,” said Dowling. “We have similar missions in providing high-quality care for patients in the communities we serve. We look forward to building on the care that Nuvance Health’s 14,000 staff members and providers deliver each and every day.”

The combined system will provide a wider range of medical services, including primary care, specialized treatments, and hospital care, through a network of over 1,000 locations and 28 hospitals. Northwell Health will invest in Nuvance Health to help it grow and improve its services.

“By joining forces with Northwell Health, we are taking a giant leap forward in our shared mission to enhance the quality, accessibility and equity of the health care we provide to our communities,” said Dr. Murphy. “This agreement enables us to make significant improvements to health outcomes for community hospitals and to deliver unparalleled care and drive positive change in the health care landscape.”

The collaboration aims to improve local healthcare by investing in medical advancements and innovation, addressing community needs more effectively, and promoting health equity. It also seeks to accelerate medical research and provide opportunities for healthcare professionals to develop their careers.

Overall, both organizations are committed to delivering high-quality care and making a positive impact on the communities they serve.
