"Air Quality Alert" ...Air quality alert in effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday... The New York state department of environmental conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties... Nassau and Suffolk In effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone . The air quality index, or aqi, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. Authorities: Valley Stream HS Student Arrested After Making Alleged Threat Against School

Andrew Davies, 18, was recorded threatening violence to the school/students, which was then posted on social media, cops say.

NCPD reports the arrest of Andrew Davies of North Valley Stream, 18, for Making a Terroristic Threat.

North Valley Stream, NY - February 27, 2018 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a N. Valley Stream man for Making a Terroristic Threat that occurred on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 12:00 pm in North Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, Andrew Davies, 18, was participating in a fire drill conducted by Valley Stream North High School. While among other students, Davies was recorded by an unknown witness threatening violence to the school/students. The recorded statement was posted on social media. 
 
An investigation was conducted and Davies was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Davies is charged with Making Terroristic Threat. He was previously arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
