Mamita's Grill, a new spot serving Dominican dishes opened up in Uniondale recently. The spot has hosted a number of different Hispanic food spots including Tipico Sazon and most recently Metapan Restaurant.

From the grill they are cooking up plenty of old standbys - like their breakfast sandwiches - and combination lunch specials.

They have Pollo Al Horno, Chuleta (port chop), and Pescado Frito (fried fish) with choice of rice, maduro (fried plantains) or french fries on the side (all for $9.99).

On Yelp, Linda P, from Jamaica, Queens, gave it five stars.

“This was the best Dominican food I have ever had,” she wrote. “The chicken soup, the beef stew, the pork chop, the rice and beans, tostones.... then there was the flan.. . They do serve dinner. I will be back quite often.”

Mauricio P, from Floral Park, agreed.

“It was my first time here, and I have to say the food and service were excellent,” he wrote. “Small family owned restaurant, great atmosphere, and extremely friendly owners. Highly recommend this place.”
