Washington, DC - January 31, 2017 - U.S. Representative Kathleen Rice, a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will serve as the Democratic Ranking Member on the Counterterrorism and Intelligence (CTI) Subcommittee in the 115th Congress. Rice’s fellow Long Island delegation-member, Rep. Peter King, serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee, which is responsible for overseeing the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) counterterrorism and information-sharing efforts. Rice has served on the Homeland Security Committee since 2015, when she was first sworn in to represent New York’s fourth congressional district. Rice previously served as a state and federal prosecutor and as the District Attorney of Nassau County, NY from 2006-2014.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead the Democratic members on the Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee,” said Representative Kathleen Rice. “This Subcommittee has an important responsibility right now to provide effective oversight of DHS, continue to make our intelligence-sharing efforts more efficient across all levels of government and law enforcement, and ensure that the men and women who keep us safe have the information and resources they need. I look forward to working with Chairman King to fulfill that responsibility in a constructive, bipartisan way.”
