CENTEREACH, NY - PJ Art Co. has announced that, due to the current economic conditions and the competitive nature of the retail business, it will close its sole location at 1950 Middle Country Road in Centereach.

Starting January 3, all in-stock merchandise will be 50% off. This includes airbrushing products, paints, brushes, drawing paper and canvases, drafting supplies, easels, pens and markers, cutting knives and blades, adhesives and tapes, books, activity kits, puzzles and educational products.

All sales are final. There will be no refunds, returns or rain checks. The following payments will be accepted: cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. No checks will be accepted.

The store, formerly known as Port Jefferson Art Colony, moved from Port Jefferson to Centereach in 2008. Because of its offering of more than 2,500 products and its knowledgeable staff, it was able to stave off big-box competitors such as Pearl Fine Art Supply, which closed down its Selden store in January 2010. However, recent developments in the economy have hit both big-box stores and niche retailers alike, resulting in many closures.
