It has been a busy few months for the sports fans over at Cablevision. First they inked a deal with the National Football League to make the NFL Network and NFL Redzone available to Optimum TV subscribers, then the company gave a free preview of its new stations on channel 11 for several weeks while negotiating a new contract with the CW. Now another sports medium is being presented to patrons of Long Island’s native service provider, this time for those with Optimum Internet.

ESPN3, the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network’s primary Online offering is ready for viewing from any Optimum subscriber’s home PC and XBOX 360, or on a laptop through the company’s many WiFi hotspots. In visiting WatchESPN.com, viewers can keep track of many different games simultaneously, as they are aired live by the network. Recent events are also cached on the website for easy, on-demand watching of games missed.

Unfortunately the WatchESPN apps for Android and iOS devices are still incompatible with Optimum’s infrastructure, however plans to remedy the situation are underway. The Disney corporation’s (ESPN’s parent company) other Internet offerings, including  WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH DisneyXD and WATCH DisneyJunior, are also aiming to be added to the list soon.

Are you excited to use ESPN3 or hopeful the WatchESPN app will soon be compatible with Optimum subscriptions? Let us know on the Long Island Sports Forum.
