MELVILLE, NY - In conjunction with October's Mediation Settlement Month and Mediation Settlement Day on October 20, 2011, Mediation & Collaborative Action Group of Melville, NY, is opening up its line of communication free of charge on Thursday, October 20th and Friday, October 21st from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to offer counsel and direction for those engaged in disputes. Conflict resolution experts Gloria Ciolli, MSW, CSW, ACSW, LMSW, a licensed social worker and conflict specialist of more than 20 years, and Rita Medaglio-Barrera, CDFA „¢, a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst „¢ with 15 yearsexperience in financial planning, investments and divorce will personally respond to what whatever questions or concerns individuals have relating to a full range of conflict areas including matrimonial, parental visitation, child support/maintenance, prenuptials, post nuptials, elder care and workplace disagreements.

"Mediation Settlement Month and Mediation Settlement Day is a time to reflect on our right to mediate," says Medaglio-Barrera. "We want people to know that legal resource is not their only option, especially since legal recourse can often be a costly and time consuming process, which is not always a luxury people can afford in today's tough economic times."

As a mediation and mental health specialist, Ciolli is skilled at diffusing emotional turmoil to deflect interference during the conflict resolution process. "Disputes can often become more complicated and harder to resolve because of the extenuating factors of emotions, anger and hostility that can often get in the way and hamper progress," explains Ciolli. "As a social worker, I am well in tune with the emotional component that can escalate disputes and can effectively work to keep emotions at bay among disputing parties so a mutual, non-confrontational agreement can be achieved without having to threaten or employ litigation."

All are encouraged to exercise the right to mediate on October 20th and 21st by contacting Mediation & Collaborative Action Group with conflict and dispute questions at 631-393-4456. All calls are kept confidential.
