Your puurrfect new family member could be waiting for you at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter’s Pet Adoption Fair and Rabies Shot Program taking place on Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. All pet adoption fees will be waived and include free spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping. Along with many adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens, this family-friendly event will also feature music, vendors, and food trucks.
Free Microchipping
During the Pet Fair, town residents may have their cat or licensed dog microchipped free of charge. In the event that a "chipped" pet becomes lost and is brought to an animal shelter nationwide, it can be quickly scanned for the owner’s contact information to help owners be reunited quickly.
Free Rabies Vaccinations
Hempstead Town residents may also receive free rabies vaccinations for their cats and dogs at the Fair. Bring a valid dog license or purchase/renew a license for your dog with the onsite Town Clerk staff. The cost of a license is $10 for spayed/neutered dogs (bring the spay/neuter certificate) and $18 for non-spayed/neutered dogs. All dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in pet carriers.
