September is a month where you can enjoy a nice breeze on Long Island! Head outdoors for hiking, the Freeport Nautical Mile Restaurant Week, the Bellmore Street Festival & Carnival and Wine and Dine with Nassau County at Chelsea Mansion! There are also other great activities to take part in like ceramics class, free movie showings at the public library and more local entertainment! Check out the details below!

MONDAY – SEPTEMBER 16, 2013

Who: Hike On Long Island At Northport-East Northport Library
Info: Here’s your chance to learn about the parks and trails on Long Island with Hiker Kevin McCoy. The program also offers information on how to hike safely and photos are available of the variety of hiking trails on Long Island.
Cost: Free Event

Who: Ceramic Class And Potters Wheel At Stony Brook University
Info: Take up ceramics this season and learn how to use the potters wheel. This five-week class is for beginners and those at the intermediate level. You’ll learn how to throw on the wheel, glaze and surface design on ceramic with Nancy Golder.
Cost: $155 For Five-Week Class, $145 For Stony Brook Staff, $85 Stony Brook Student

Who: The Great Gatsby Playing at Connetquot Public Library
Info: It’s a night at the movies at Connetquot Public Library. Enjoy a screening of The Great Gatsby, which tells the story of a Midwestern war veteran who finds himself drawn to the past and the lifestyle of his millionaire neighbor.

Who: Country Night At The Nutty Irishman Of Farmingdale

Info: Freeport’s Nautical Mile Restaurant Week runs through Sept. 22 with 12 restaurants on the popular strip returning after Superstorm Sandy. Enjoy prix fixe 3-course menus with signature dishes. Make reservations now!

Who: Bellmore Street Festival & Carnival
Info:  The festival runs through Sept. 22. It features 107 exhibits, attractions, fun rides, animal exhibits, live entertainment, sports expo, home expo, an auto show, a petting zoo, character parade, EMS and police demos and over 150 hand craft vendors. The rain date for this event is Oct. 20-21.

Who: Wine And Dine With Nassau County At Chelsea Mansion
Info: Enjoy wining and dining at the beautiful Chelsea Mansion! You’ll have a chance to also enjoy jazz music while tasting samples from Nassau’s most popular restaurants. There’s also benefit games for the physically challenged.
