EAST HAMPTON, NY - Rugosa Restaurant has announced that Douglas Sheehan has been named its new General Manager. Mr. Sheehan will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

A Sag Harbor resident, Mr. Sheehan has worked in New York restaurants for most of his adult life. Prior to joining Rugosa, he worked at Waverly Inn in New York City.

In 1994, he and his father, Ed Sheehan, together with Bobby Thomas, opened the Dockside Bar & Grill in Sag Harbor. This well-loved restaurant is now owned and operated by Douglas' sister, Stacy Sheehan, and her partner, Elizabeth Barnes.

In previous years on the East End, Mr. Sheehan worked at Robert's in Water Mill and Sapore di Mare in Wainscott before heading to southeast Asia to manage a number of nightclubs and teach scuba diving. Upon returning to New York, he joined the management team for Terrance Brennan's Artisanal Bistro, John McDonald and Josh Pickard's Lever House and finally, in 2006, at Graydon Carter's Waverly Inn.

"I am extremely grateful to have worked with such great chefs as Natalie Bynes, Dan Silverman, Terrance Brennan and John Delucie," Mr. Sheehan said. "As someone who is detail-oriented and diligent about making sure everything goes smoothly, I look forward to improving the dining experience for all the guests at Rugosa."

"We are very pleased to have Douglas join our restaurant," said Bill Mammes, Chef/Co-Owner, Rugosa Restaurant. "He has extensive experience in the restaurant business, having worked alongside some of the most respected names in the industry. I am confident that he will provide a memorable dining experience for our customers."
